about

Out of all the tracks that Tinyfish ever recorded, this is the one that that truly got away from us as a band. Originally slated for inclusion on the debut (self titled) Tinyfish album, we struggled mightily to make this one work and eventually abandoned it in favor of the album's other ten minute epic, All Hands Lost.

While it was probably the right move at the time, I always thought it there was a good tune lurking at the centre of the sonic mess we had created.

Restructuring this track from scratch took a huge amount of time and some of the audio was so badly degraded, I reached out to Tinyfish guitarist, Jim Sanders and asked him if he'd be happy to re-record a couple of his original rhythm parts and the guitar solo at the end

Jim is a very successful graphic designer now but he very kindly pulled out his guitar and was able to provide me with enough music to fill the holes.

lyrics

Where it lies, there we lay too
When it speaks, we applaud
In its arms, tenderly
To turn us softly to corpse dust

Working hard, when my day's done
To find my home full of strangers
Was it now, was it next year?
Tomorrow blends into no-where
In my face

See his face all around us
See his hands reaching out
You can tell what he's thinking
'The winning is in the waiting, wait for me.'

He gives and takes our right to life
Dictator of the masses
When he forbids or forces all
'This is the world.' The priest says

We'll break him down
We'll let him know
Dictators have farther to fall
Blood an his hands
Blood on his face
We'll finish him wherever we can
Stop listening
Stop everything
No slices left to live in between
Sound of his breath
Sound of his heart

Dead silence as we tear him apart

Am I a victim of my crime
If I'm a willing victim?
Justly accused of killing time
There's nothing left to keep me in

Working hard, when my day's done
To find my home full of strangers
Was it now, was it next year?
The winning is in the waiting
Wait for me
